CARING FOR YOUR REFINISHED SURFACES
Thank you for choosing St. Pete Refinishing for your home project! With proper cleaning and care, your refinished surfaces will last for many years.
Refinishing is typically a 1 day process. We may find it necessary to remove items to complete our work. It is the homeowner's responsibility to reinstall the overflow plate, faucet, shower doors, shower heads, shower curtain rods, towel bars etc., after the 24-hour cure time has elapsed. During the preparation process we will fit a glove and/or plastic over your faucet and shower head or shower arm to prevent any water from dripping on the wet finish. These may be removed 24 hours after your bathtub, shower or sink have been refinished. It will be necessary to remove the bathtub overflow plate and it may also be put back on after the 24 hour curing period. It may be necessary to remove shower doors to get an even finish on your project. They may be put back on 24 hours after your bathtub or shower have been refinished.
Refinished Bathtub and Tile Care
Although your surface will be ready for use after 24 hours, the coating will continue to harden over a 10- 20 day period. During this curing period, it’s important to be mindful of dropping items onto your newly refinished surface. Take care not to use any products that you would not use on your car’s exterior paint.
You should never use abrasive, harsh, or acidic cleaners or anything with micro-abrasive additives (Comet, Ajax, Soft Scrub, etc.) or abrasive type sponges (steel wool, Scotch pads, S.O.S pads etc.) on your refinished bathtub and tile. Never use citric acid, bleach, or chlorine products when cleaning.
With regular cleaning, a quality soft sponge and non-abrasive cleaner, you will be able to wipe the surface clean fairly easily.
We recommend dish soap (diluted or dye-free), Scrubbing Bubbles in the can (no bleach or citrus cleaner) or mild, non-acidic, non-chlorinated cleaners and a quality soft sponge or microfiber towel to clean.
Bathmats without suction cups may be used but must be taken out and bathtub bottom dried after each use.
Do not store or leave standing water in the bathtub.
Use a hanging shower caddy to keep shampoo bottles and soaps off of the refinished surface.
Clean your refinished bathtub and tile regularly to avoid staining from hard water and soap scum.
Refrain from using dyed products/essential oils. Hair dye, fabric dye, colored bath bombs, food coloring etc. will leave stains in your refinished bathtub.
NOTE: Failure to use the proper products or care on your refinished bathtub or tile will result in degradation of the finish and will void your warranty.
Refinished Sink Care
Follow all care instructions from bathtub and tile care and please include:
Carefully place sharp knives and utensils into your refinished sink to avoid scratches in the finish
Allow hot pots and pans cool before placing them into your refinished sink
Do not allow staining food, liquids or cast iron pans to sit on the sink surface for long periods of time
Please wait at least 24 hours for your newly refinished sink to cure
refinished Countertop Care
You should never use any abrasive, harsh or acidic cleaners (Comet, Ajax, Soft Scrub, etc.) or abrasive type sponges (steel wool, Scotch pads S.O.S pads etc.) on your refinished countertops.
We recommend mild spray cleaners (Mrs. Myers, Method, Lysol etc) and quality soft sponges and towels.
Always use a cutting board to prevent cut marks.
Never place a hot pot or pan on the countertop.
Wipe any liquids that may cause a stain in a timely manner.
Please wait 72 hours after refinishing to place your heavier items back on the countertops
NOTE: Failure to use the proper products or care on your refinished countertops will result in degradation of the finish and will void your warranty.
